We are all having a lot of fun journaling from a pioneer child's point of view. It is such a pleasure for me to listen to you all share your journals that are packed with historically accurate facts. Each one of you have weaved the facts into your writing in such clever ways.
Please share some of your thoughts about your experience writing historical fiction. You may share some of your favorite lines that you have written or just tell about your feelings about writing in this genre.
My Characters name is Bruce Milton. He has no brothers or sisters. He has a horse named Frank and a dog named Cheetah because the dog has spots and so does a cheetah so thats why they (his family) named the dog Cheetah. There are two bad things and two good thing that happen on the Oregon trail to them.
ReplyDeleteOne of the bad things is that the dad gets a snake bite but he lives (I guess that because he survives it is the 3rd good thing but not the biting part of and another bad thing is that 1 out of 4 oxen drown. And as for the good things there is a wedding and Cheetah has pups (and the dad lives).
My pioneer name is Frances Daphne Miller. I have 2 brothers and 1 sister. I have a dog named Cooper and a horse named Belle. One of my siblings was left on our doorstep and we don’t know who left him there. My brother Russel gets sick of Cholera, and dies at Independence Rock. A good thing is that a person in my family dies a natural death.

My mom is going to have a babies on the trail and she gets sick before she can have her twin and me Elsa Valentine did not approve of twins I approved of one baby and they better not be born on my birthday. I sleep with a lettuce doll because it looks like me and I sleep with it every night and outer kids used to tease me about it but know they don't because they don't have any dolls since we left. You have to read my journal to find out what happens!!!
ReplyDeleteMy name is Johnson Mc gee I am a little scared ongoing on the trail but happy at the same time I have 3 siblings and ma and pa. One of them Regina dies by getting lost I have a dog Wills and stuart are twins they are 2 years old. I am 12.

My name is Albert Nelson. I am 14 years old. My Pa shot a rock thinking it was a rabbit. My sister, Myra, who is 15, tripped on a stone and twisted her ankle. My little brother, Russel, was bitten by a snake. Russel is nine. Fortunately the snake was not a poisonous one. In TOUGH RIVER CROSSING, Theodore's tail gets cut off by the wagon. Theodore is my dog. Theodore is a mutt. Luckily, he survives. My best friend's name is Paul Phil. His Ma died on the trail because she got cholera. Fortunately, nobody else who is close to me dies.

My Ma is pregnant and has a baby girl named Madeline. My best friend is Genevieve Applegate. When I heard that we where going I felt a little happy and a little scarred at the same time.

ReplyDeleteMy pioneer journal is about a girl named Genevieve. It starts out at night when Genevieve and her family are going on the Oregon trail the next day. Genevieve normally walks with her best friend Virginia Miles and sometimes with Madeline East. One day Virginia and I hear a loud, alarming scream. That's all I'm going to tell you!

Elliot got his journal from his grandpa and grandma. Elliot just shot his first animal. I am looking forward to write about the tough river crossing.
ReplyDeletepioneer journaling is so fun I have some good things that are going to happen on the trail and some bad things too. My name on the trail is Abraham Lincoln Jr. my brothers name is Elliot and my sisters name is Cecilia. I am super happy to go on the trail but on the other hand my sister and brother are scared to death. We sold are house and are ready to move out. For the trip we brought 2 chickens 2 oxen some extra mules and of course are dog Hector
ReplyDeletePioneer journaling is so fun so far. I am at the part were we are leaving to go to Oregon. Before that I see my Pa bringing in two oxen and three mustangs. I got nervous. During the trip some good things happened and some bad things too.
