Giving and Receiving Gifts of Meaning

During the holiday season, many people share more with others. They give time and other gifts with love.

Share a favorite gift you have given or received. How did giving make you feel? How did receiving a precious gift make you feel?

  6. When I was eight years old, my dad gave me a little red go-cart for no reason. It wasn't my birthday. It wasn't Christmas. My dad gave me this surprise gift because he knew I was feeling a bit left-out being the middle girl. I felt so loved by my parents. I felt like they understood me and cared enough to cheer me up. It wasn't the go-cart itself that made me happy. It was the thoughts behind the gift!

  13. I have a lot of favorite presents. But one of my favorite was when I got my dog. His name is Gus. At frist my sister and I really wanted a dog. But my mom kept saying NO! Last year my mom still said no but really my parents had already bought Gus! Then on Christmas Eve my parents said they had some early Christmas present. My big sister Anna guessed it was a dog but my mom talk her out of it. Then they brought out 3 presents. 1 big. 1 small. And 1 medium. Of course Ellen my little sister got to pick frist then me and then Anna. Ellen chose the big one. I chose the medium. And Anna got stuck with the small one. Ellen's was a kennel. Mine was a mat for the kennel. And Anna's was a box of toys. Then we all screamed WERE GETTING A DOG!!! My parents both said YES!!! Then Anna asked what kind is it? Where is it? And what what is its name? My mom said it is a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. We half to go pick it up. Look in the wooden tree advent calendar ( we have a wooden tree advent calendar that my parents put thing in) We looked in it there was a collar it said Gus! Then my dad said go get dressed and we can go get him now. It is about 45 minutes from here!
And that is how we got my dog Gus! He is playful and cute but sometimes trouble!
