  1. The immigrants traveled across the continent from 1840 to 1860.Some immigrants didn't want to go across the columbia river so they payed a toll to go on a road. As the animals got tired they took out stoves dressers and things that they didn't need. Thomas Jefferson was the president who convinced them. They forced the native americans out of there land and signed treaties and broke them.

  16. When Thomas Jefferson was president he wanted to buy Port City of New Orleans from the french. The french sold him the entire Louisiana purchase. Every one traveling on the Oregon trail where not all going to Oregon, there where trail branches going to Utah and California. On May 2nd was the day they left Independence Missouri frontier to start their long long journey. The migration started in the 1840s and lasted into the 1860s. A good wagon cost about 85 dollars did you know that it took some families 6 years to save up that much. Oxen where the best animal to pull the wagon because they where strong and could work long hours. But some people chose mules or horses to pull their wagon. The white people brought some diseases that killed some of the indians. Chimney rock is a special land mark the pioneers used it as target practice and some of the top was shot away. South past was the half way point. Some people payed the toll and traveled the Balou I think thats what it's called, around mount hood instead of going down the dangres Columbia River.
