Hi everyone! Today in CAFE, I learned that 2015 is the year of the ram or sheep. Every new year, children in China receive a red envelope containing new money that has never been used. If you get an even amount of money, it means good luck. If not, it means bad luck. There is a legend of a lion-like monster called Nian, and he really liked the villagers for lunch! To scare him away, people hung scrolls and red cutouts on their doors, banged drums, and set off fireworks to scare him away. Bye! 3-P ROCKS! :)
ReplyDeleteChinese new year was tied to the lunar calender. It is time to honor house hold hevenly deities also ancestors. There is story about a monster that preyed on villagers. The monster was like a lion and his/her name is Nion.
