Post Pioneer Hour Wrap-up!

We had wonderful time sharing our Westward Expansion projects and work samples! I am curious. What was your favorite activity that we did during this unit? Was is the journal, the iBook with widgets, time line, map or brain tracking?

Did you enjoy Pioneer Hour? Tell us some of your thoughts about this experience.

I am so proud of my pioneers!
Love,
Ms. Priscilla Peach

  1. I thought Pioneer Hour was fun! I liked how everybody had a costume on ( except for the relatives and Ms.P). My favorite was showing the Native American videos, even the it was not new for my mom but it was for my dad and grandma! My mom really liked how she learned new fact about Westward Expansion!

  2. My favorite part was everything! I loved the biscuits, butter, beef jerky, the I-Book, sharing my journal, watching the Native American I-Movie, and just being there with my mom and grandma. I personly liked seeing everyone in their outfits.
It was also tons of fun shaking the butter in our classroom. It was a fun opportunity to share our work with family and close friends. I per sonly loved the name tags. I liked having the opportunity to have the I-Pads for Pioneer Hour. The butter tasted soooo good. It tasted salty and creamy.
Ms. Priscilla Peach deserves 2/3s of the credit for the perfect hour.

  5. I loved pioneer hour. Everyone did such a good job. My favorite part of the Westward Expansion unit was writing the journal. My second favorite part of the unit was the I-Book. I wish I could read all the other journals. The biscuits at Pioneer Hour were so delicious and the butter was so good. I liked the beef jerky. I love the unit. I felt like I was going on the Oregon Trail. It makes me appreciate what I have in 2014 more. I can't wait to start a new unit!

  6. I loved pioneer hour! I don't have a favorite part. I liked everything about it. I liked making the butter. I liked the beef jerky, biscuits, sharing my journal, the iBook and just being there, seeing everyone happy and trying something new!

I liked the opportunity to use iPads. The name tags were such a good idea! On my biscuit I liked to put a little bit of honey and a little bit of butter so that way its sweet and salty. Without Ms.Peach, none of it would have happened.

  7. My favorite part of Pioneer Day was the ibook I did with Sam. And the journal. It was a fun experience to dress up like a pioneer and write a journal that a pioneer would write. And I actually learned what Manifest Destiny means! Making the butter was fun. I also really liked doing all of the activities!

  8. I enjoyed pioneer hour so much! I really liked shaking the butter in class. The food was really good. My mom really liked our iBook and getting to see all of the widgets that every buddy did on their page. One of my most favorite parts where seeing every buddy all dressed up in their pioneer costumes at school. I am so glad that Ms.Peach is our teacher because if she wasn't here none of this great experience and fun would of ever happen.

  9. My favorite part of pioneer study was exploring the ibook and learning how to make it. And that interactive image I'm glad it turned out good too. My ma and pa (my mom and dad) really like are ibook and how we wrote our journals. Are journals were so fun to write and then show are hard work to are parents. On the ibook all the widgets turned out awesome. I didn't read all of the journal but i read leaving Independence because thats what Johnny and I did I also read Fort Laramie because we did that to. And I read Oregon. Thank you Johnny for helping me. I thought are things turned out really good. I showed the timeline of all the important things. On the ibook my ma and pa (my mom and dad) got every answer right on the quiz. I showed my map of all of the spots on the trail and the thought it was cool how you saw all of them. The beaf jerky was good. I didn't get to eat the biscuit and butter so can you please tell me how it was. Thank you.

  13. First of all, I LOVED Pioneer Hour! I loved sharing ibook with my mom. I also enjoyed sharing my journal with my mom. I think she especially liked that part. It was very fun to dress up, and I got to wear suspenders for the first time. During Pioneer Hour my mom told me stories about my grandfather growing up in a town that is on the Oregon Trail, so I am excited to visit and learn more. My grandfather's brother lived in Scott's Bluff! I knew I loved biscuits, I had even had homemade butter before, but during Pioneer Hour I figured out that I LOVE honey! I thought collecting information about the Oregon Trail was a good use of time. Thank you, Ms. Peach for letting us do these fun things!
