Independent Reading Check In!
We LOVE independent reading! Today I noticed that you all were reading from several genres. I saw people reading fiction, magazines, graphic novels, picture books and biographies! Please share what you are reading. Make ME want to read YOUR book or magazine!
As you know, I am reading All the Light We Cannot See. That is my historical fiction book. Right now I am so interested in the little girl adjusting to her blindness. I am also reading Peace Meals, a wonderful cookbook, that I have had for years. I am planning on making Tilapia with Spicy, Sweet Jalapeno Sauce. I am always reading Time Magazine. Always. I am happy with my balanced diet!
I am reading about magazines. The magazines are about really cool topics. In side there is a page that it says that robots are going to take over the word. My chapter book is Stink. I have barely started so I don't really know that much about it.That is what I am reading about.
I love reading animal books. My favorite other is Bill Wallace. He has alt of show not tells. And they are about animals, too. I am reading the Pick of the Litter . I just started the book but it is good already. Right now it is about a boy and he is doing a spelling test and he hates it.
Right know I am reading How to Steal a Dog. I am on chapter 7. IT IS AWESOME! I am where the girl moves into the junky old house it is very interesting. I wonder If they actually will steal Willy. I cant wait to finish it!
My diet is comics so far. I all so like chapter books. The book I'm really enjoying is WHAT BODY PART IS THAT. I love it because the facts and very funny facts. I also like the funny graphic pitchers that goes with the facts. My favorite fact is make your hand in to a fist. Thats how big your heart is. It is also how big your fist is.
Right now I am reading Marty McGuire Digs Worms. It is such a good book! It is about Marty's class is doing a class project to help the earth. Marty tries 2 things but they didn't work. Her grandmother made her project idea it is to dump out all the lunch scraps into a worm been instead of dumping them into the trash can thats where I stopped.
I am reading the BEST BOOK EVER! It's called Coco Caramel. It's about this girl named Coco who knows this boy named Laurie Marshall she thinks he's a bully but it turns out he's not! There is a horse named Caramel thats at a horse back riding school that Coco goes to. Caramel is Coco's favorite horse. One day Coco falls of Caramel and they decide to sell her to I guy named Seddon. now I don't want to spoil anything else! You can find out what happens next! Bye!
I think I have read 2 chapter books and 8 graphic novels and 3 picture books. I think that is a balanced diet of reading.I hope I can read at least 18 new graphic novels. Right now I am reading Lunch Lady the Bake Sail Bandit. ps once I am done w/ the books that are Lunch Lady the video game villan,thebake sail bandit,and the picture day peril. I will have read 11 graphic novels.
Reading is one of my favorite subject. I just finished reading The Fences Between Us. It is partly about the battle of Pearl Harber. Partly about the Japanese going to the awful areas and they are not aloud to leave. It is also about the Great Depression. Who knew so many things could be in one book! I am reading Jake and Lilly it is about two twins growing up together and they can practically read each others mind! And my final book is one that I am reading at home it is called The 39 Clues. Right now I am at a really exited about my book. My books are the BEST!
I am reading Time for Kids there are a bunch of different stuff to read. Right now I am reading about robots there are some that can cook play catch. One of them can scan your face and tell ho you are and if you are with a bunch of people it will take a picture. It will tell you your calendar and if you want to tell somebody some thing it will tell them I wish I had it.
Out of My Mind is about a girl named Melody with cerebral palsy who cannot walk or talk. Her mom enrolls her in school. She goes to classes, but she is going out of her mind because she knows the answers but she can't yell them out! And she tries out for a team called the whiz kids team. She gets on the team, but the two bullies named Claire and Molly say she'll look weird on TV. But Mr. Dimming the teacher says that he doesn't want any rude comments about Melody. The rest is for you to find out if you want to read it.
I am reading Wonder. I have just started reading it. From what I can tell it is pretty sad. It is about a little boy who is born with one eye. At one time he had three best friends, but than one boy moved a way, his two other friends made new friends at s school. Every one stairs as he walks by. He fells ordinary but no one thinks he is.If you like sad books based on true stories, this is a book for you!
I just finished reading Judy Moody Sees the Future. It is a really good book because when Judy gets a mood ring she thinks she can tell the future and she really tries to! At home I'm reading Sherlock, Lupin and Me. It has been a long time since I have read it. Maybe I can put about the book when I finish it.
I am reading a National Geographic magazine. I learned that people have created flying cars. I just started reading a fiction book about a dog that was a stray. An army person found him and kept him as a pet. I love this book!
I just finished Tintin The Black Island. All of the Tintin books are kind of scary because in all of them Tintin's enemies want him either dead or in jail. In this one, in the beginning, one of Tintin's enemies says Tintin stole his wallet. But Tintin always finds a way out of it. Then, in the end of the book, he goes to the Black Island to check out an airplane crash. But little does Tintin know it's his enemies' hideout...
I'm reading a book called NERDS book 3. It was about dangerous dimensions and in the real world the stuff is all impossible because there is high tech stuff. It is a great book.
