I am writing a story about the time my niece Anastasia and I fell off our paddle boards. I started my first draft with a dialogue lead. I don't have a show not tell yet. I could say something like, "My heart was pounding in my chest as I saw Anastasia floating closer and closer to the propeller!" I am still working on revising my first draft.

I have finished my Lost pines book. I wrote a cut to action lead. I started with my mouth watering. I did a show not tell. I said that I was starstruck. I could add that my eyes were as big as saucers. And I can't wait to publish it fully. Right now I am finishing my first draft.

DeleteI am writing a book about the first time I waterskied. I was so nervus. I love my hook and I hope you do, too! I am right now working on my cover. Do you have any idea of what I could add? I would love to hear ideas. I have a show not tell but it is not very good. I can not wait till we publish! I love writers workshop.

DeleteI wrote my first draft on 8-19-15 about my B-DAY. I was with Steven, Alexander, Mom and Dad. I did not have a show not tell. I think I can make it better. I am planning on changing my hook to a setting lead. I am going to start a first draft on separate paper to stretch my story.

DeleteMy personal narrative is going great! I have been working on the cover for quite some time. It is just not working out. I do love my draft. I do not have a bunch of show not tell but at least I have author style. I'm writing about when I almost fell off a cliff. Personal narrative is great! My hook is cut to acton.

DeleteI am writing about snorkeling in Dominican Republic with my mom and I. I am thinking of a hook right know. My story is about when I fed the fish and one bit me. My show not tell was when I said " There was burning sand and the biggest and bluest sky " and I am ready to publish.

DeleteI love my personal narrative especially the title. It is called Big Bad Banana. I did a macro to micro for my lead. I am working on my cover. It is pink! I didn't do a show not tell, but I am going to add on in!

My readers hook is dialogue " Help me unbuckle my life jacket dad!" I called. I do have show not tell. It is the boat gliding smoothly over the gentle ripples in the water.

ReplyDeleteI am writing about when I got glasses. I am practically just starting my first draft. I am starting off pretty well. My lead is, "As I walked into the building, I remembered my earlier dilation and felt scared, excited and curious all at the same time. Would I have another dilation? What would my glasses be like? But that was for me to find out later, as will you." I don't have a show not tell yet. I am thinking about putting a show not tell like, "My eyes felt almost like they were on fire!" I am not very far yet on my first draft.
