Oh, Canada!

We have been learning new information on the amazing country of Canada! Many of us did not have very much background knowledge on this country including Ms. Papadakes!

Please share at least two things that you know about Canada and a few wonders.

  1. I learned that Canada has about 3.85 square miles of space! I also learned that the beaver is the national animal. I want to know what the national flower is. I also want to know what the maple leaf stands for. I want to learn what clothes they wear.

  3. Hi! Canada is an amazing country. Canada is the second biggest country by land mass. It is second to Russia. It has 3.85 million square miles. There are 6 regions of Canada. One of them is the Interior Planes. Another one is the Canadian Shield. It has some very old rocks!Another one of the regions is the Great Lakes. The next region is the Appalachian Region. Next is the Western Cordiiera region and another is the Artic Archipelago which has the Northern Lights and 36,000 island. Canada has the most coastline in the world. It can be as cold as -81 degrees F. The beaver is the national animal and the moose is an important animal there. New Foundland which is island off the coast of Canada has the iceburg that sunk the Titanic. Ice Hockey and lacrosse are two big sports there. Wayne Gretzky the best ice-hockey player ever was born in Canada. That's it. Have a wonderful day!

  4. I learned that Canada is 3.85 million square miles but it's not highly populated. Canada only has 35,362,905 people living there. I also learned that the leaf on the Canadian flag is a maple leaf. The national animal of Canada is the beaver and the moose is important too. Finally, Canada is the second largest country in the world following Russia, which is the first.

  5. I learned that there is an island called Prince Edward Island. Canada makes the most maple syrup in the world! I wonder what clothes they wear and what the weather is like?

  6. I know that the leaf on the flag is a maple tree leaf.Canada has 36,000 islands.They don't have much populaion then USA. My mom lived in Canada when she was in high school.

    I wander why they chose the maple leaf for their flag. I also wander do they have beaches.

  7. I learned that there are six regions. Beavers are the state animal. Canada's flag has a maple leaf on it. And it is red and white. Canada touches four of the five great lakes. I wondered what games they play? And what do they like to do for fun.

  9. My BK about Canada is: Canada as about 3.85 square miles big! It has about 36,000 islands! I wonder if the have kings or presidents? I wonder why they don't have much people living there?

  10. I learned that the beaver and the moose are the country's symbolic animals, kind of like the eagle and the buffalo are for the U.S. Also, hockey and lacrosse are very popular sports there. I told my family how Canada is the second biggest country in the world after Russia, but the population is so little you might it was a small country since Italy, which is a small country, has more population than Canada. I wonder if it is has a lot of beautiful art? I wonder who their famous artists are?

  11. I learned that the beaver is Canada's country symbol. I also learned that children there start school at 5 or 6 years old. There flag is red and white with a maple leaf on it.πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ I also know Canada's national anthem. In Canada there are northern lights. Canada has a lot of islands. I also have a good friend named Marina who lives in Toronto Canada.

  13. I am so happy that Canada is one of our countries this year. I learned a lot and I'm just going to share a little bit of my information. The first thing I learned was that the beaver was their national animal, they like to play hockey on frozen lakes, kids can join a hockey team when the are seven. The moose is also one of the animals that they adore, and their capital is Otowa. I wonder if Canadians have a certain food they enjoy. I also wonder if Canadian kids' life are any diffrent than ours. I absolutely enjoyed learning about Canada and I want to learn even more. I can't wait until international fair!

  14. Today I learned that the Maple leaf is a symbol of Canada. There are more Christian people the Jewish people in Canada They like Hockey and Lacrosse. Their national animal is the beaver. Canada has 36,000 islands! Canadians start School at 5 or 6 years. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

  16. I really liked learning about Canada! It was so amazing and a little bit more than I thought! Some of my background knowledge that I remember really well was that Niagara Falls is located in Canada. Some of my new learning facts were that in Canada they celebrate Thanksgiving in October, they also call the 1st day of July Canada Day, most kids in Canada start school when they are about 5 or 6 years old, Canada touches 12 of the US states and Canada has 36,000 islands called an archipelago. I have many more background knowledge facts and many more new learning facts. Some of my wonders are what they like to do in their schools, what kind of hobbies they have and if they grow plants as much as us? Next we will be learning Italy I can't wait to see what Italy has coming for us but I'm sure I'll like it!

    Canada is the second biggest country next to Russia πŸ‡·πŸ‡Ί their are 6 regions. Canada has less gravity. Canada has some of the oldest rocks. In Canada they speak English and French. It has been negative 81 their brrrrrrrr! Hockey and Lacrosse are popular in Canada Canada has 36,000 🌴!their flag has a maple leaf 🍁 on it.

  18. International Fair is here! It is one of my favorite times of the school year. I have already learned a little bit about Canada from the video the moms sent. I also did some research at home. Here are my facts. The capital city of Canada is Ottawa and the cool thing is my cousin Zach is getting married there this summer. Canada has over 30,000 lakes. The most popular sport in Canada is ice hockey. There have been 2 winter Olympics and 1 summer Olympics there. I wonder how many school snow days they have a year because it snows so much in Canada.
