  7. I am so excited about learning information on the Native Americans. I have so many tracks that I will be flexible and choose three fun facts about the different tribes on my brain tracks sheet.
Fun Fact Number One: In the Southeast settlers region, there is a tribe named the Cherokee. Sequoyah of the Cherokee wrote the first written language of Native Americans. The symbols he created were similar to English & Greek letters. When he finished creating symbols, his alphabet had about 86 symbols!
Fun Fact Number Two: In the Eastern Woodlands, there is a Confederacy called the Iroquois Confederacy. One of the tribes in the Iroquois is called Mohawk. I thought that was really funny because a mohawk is also a hairstyle or hairdo that some people wear.
Fun Fact Number Three: In the Southeast region, people have house that they live in. Then, they alternate between seasons because their houses are 'summer houses' and 'winter houses'. I thought that was pretty cool because in the present, we just live in one, big, modern house compared to the Cherokee and the other tribes.

  12. I loved watching the video! Here are a couple things that I learned about the Native Americans:
    1. In the Great Plains Region, the Native Americans walked several days from their villages to the grassy plains. Once there the men did the hunting. They surrounded many bulls. At a signal they all shout and drive the buffalo of a steep cliff where the fall and are killed.
    2. In the South East Region, fighting was very common among the tribes in this area
    3. Also in the South East Region, one famous Cherokee named Sequoyah went to work in 1809 on a written language. Part of the language was from the English language and the other part is from the Greek language. When he was done he had eighty-six symbols from for his alphabet. It was the first american tribe to have a written language.
    Here is one more fact:
    4. A while ago the water level shrunk and a land bridge formed between the great land of Asia and North America.
