  1. One interesting fact about the Shawnee is the Shawnee held two bread dances, the fall bread dance and the spring bread dance. They held the spring bread dance to honor the women for growing their crops. They held the fall bread dance to honor the men for hunting their meat. They had groups of families called clans. They lived together. Each clan had a animal name such as snake, deer or elk. The clans believed the spirit of the animal will guide and protect the clan. Their houses were made from bent tree poles covered with bark or animal hides.
