Hopi Happenings!
The Hopi people got their name from a word that means "peaceful people". Hmmm...very interesting and quite a contrast to our Comanche tribe!
Please share interesting information from your research so far.
The Hopi is very interesting. I have learned a lot. For clothing the women wear a gown with a gold stripe at the waist and the hem. Their most important crop is corn. They also grow beans, onions, peaches, apricots, melons, wheat, corn, and squash. The Hopi do not move around. They stay in one spot. I think that is why there houses are nice. Men wear fancy outfits to ceremonies and they wear headdresses and put on body paint. Did you know Hopi means good and peaceful!!!! The men wore straight sleeved shirts made of deer skin. Both men and women wear moccasins on their feet also made out of deer skin. Hopi Indians came to the west in about 500 A.D.This is a cool fact!!! Historians say they were the first tribe to make the U.S their home. They believe that everything should be controlled by art. Many of the jobs are are to make pottery or to make baskets.
I learned a lot from the Hopi books such as: they make lots of pottery and baskets their famous food is corn and unmarried women wear their hair in buns on either side of their heads and if they are married they either wear their hair in straight long hair and I forgot the other hairstyle.I hope I learn more!!!!!
Hopi men wore fur or buckskin loin cloth flaps of material. That covered front and back hung from their waist. Also wore robes and blankets or cotton. Women wore black gowns with A gold stripe. Corn is a very important crop.
Also in 2007 the Hopi won against a snow-making ski resort and also not in the year above but a spanish guy commented well not really " commented" as a good thing but he said that the land of the Hopi"s land was actually Spain's land.
They lived in sand houses. The Hopi lived in the desert, but they were still good farmers. The Hopi people like to eat and grow corn. They also grow beans, squash and melons.
